WOW! I can't believe Kellie starts school next week. June was a relaxing, lazy month of recovery from school and seminary, then July hit and it was a week of sewing pioneer dresses in Utah-while Kellie attended EFY, to the Pioneer trek the next week, to a family vacation the next 10 days, to registering Kellie for classes this week. Yowsers!
Not to mention that Jamie got her mission call to Samara Russia! She leaves on December 1 for the MTC - almost 30 years to the day after I went into the MTC for my mission. I am excited for her, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't apprehensive. Extreme cold and heat and more worrisome things. I've yet have someone talk to me who has gone there, who hasn't shared a horror story, despite loving the experience.
It has been a great summer in that Jamie is home with us, and a sad one as Tyler, Jeremy, and Preston are in Arizona working and Jodi is there recovering from her first year of teaching Junior High School. I long for the days when all my kids were home and I could snuggle with them and tell them stories late at night. My neighbors renewed their vows on the 25 of July and we watched their 3 kids for them to give them- anyway... We built tents in the basement and watched Bongo under it. When I came upstairs, my kids were watching TV and commented on how much fun I seemed to be having. It was true; I was having a blast. Ten and under is pure fun, I think. Eleven upward is awesome, but in a different way.
Tonight Jim and celebrated our 26th year of marriage. We started out at the Scottish festival, where we met Jamie who'd had an overnight camp out with the singles Ward. We saw all kinds of Scottish games- throwing a telephone pole (or at least it looked like it), rock throws, sword fights, parade of clans, Irish Wolfhounds and mastiffs and border collies. Then we went to Jessica's reception at the Dove house and it was beautiful. She was beautiful and so very happy. Jim and I finished the evening by going to The A-Team movie-very nostalgic and found a wonderful sushi/oriental restaurant. OOKA.
Jeremy called when we got home and he is going to Gma Shirleys for the weekend with Preston. He will have a great time and gma is excited too have them.
Well, my seminary supervisor offered me the job of being a substitute seminary teacher for our building and immediate area, instead of being a regular seminary teacher. I had told her I needed to work more this year as with 2 kids in college and one of a mission, $$ was a factor. It was also interesting timing as Jim had just told me the most important things I should be focused on were Talon before he left for school and Jamie before she left for her mission. It was still a hard decision for me bc I love teaching seminary and my class last year was amazing. But the more I thought about it, and prayed about it, I felt it was the right thing to do. I will miss the teaching and the kids, but not the early mornings.
