All're home that are coming home for Christmas

Jeremy and Talon arrived from college this week and while it is good to have them home, having boys who have lived on their own, living under your roof again is always different than what I expect.  For example, tomorrow night is FHE, and my boys have plans to attend FHE in the singles ward. Grrrr. So we are pushing our FHE plans to Wednesday night and so we can all be together. Talon left Hawaii happy and healthy, and slept most of the way home, which was a huge improvement over his first flight back. He arrived in Colorado with a cold and pink eye. We haven't had pink eye in this house for maybe a decade, so it wasn't on my radar. I'm thinking he'd kept late hours, had cat allergies ( the cats slept on his pillow-damn cats), etc.  This morning he wakes up with his eye gunked shut and that was the give-away. I missed Sacrament Meeting as I called the Drs. and waited for the return call, and then waited to hear the prescription was filled to pick it up. Jeremy and Talon switched beds last night, and now Jeremy has an itching eye. This feels like the good old days when my kids were home and they could all be sick together and watch movies. Nostalgia is waxing thick tonight.

We have been busy delivering treats to friends and neighbors and doing some last minute shopping. After the ward Christmas party, we dropped in on the Powers. Susi is a darling and I've missed doing things with her. When I was subbing a lot and teaching Seminary, I dropped off with my friends as I was never free when they were doing lunch or B-day parties. This year I've worked less as I'm realizing the importance of these friendships.  I've found I am a good 'present' friend. If I'm with you or you need anything, I am there for you, but the regular upkeep needed to sustain a friendship is where I fall short.  I'm feeling I am entering a phase in my life where my friends will be more important to me than even they were before.

So, home for the holidays and decorating the family tree tonight.  I hope there is buy in :) I am all ready missing Tyler and Jodi who will spend this Christmas in Utah.

We are going to be low key this year.  A trip to Frazier to go tubing, and then a day of quaint rustic window shopping in Winter Park. We are going to 16th street mall and go for a carriage ride and see the lights, and to Zoo lights at the Denver Zoo. Also see Narnia and some other movies at the theaters. The kids have friends and activities planned too, but these are the things we will do as a family.  I should mention sleeping in.  These kids can sleep like no other.  I think Talon slept for over 20 hours between last night and today. Yes, he's a little under the weather, but still well enough to torment his sister.  I have passes to the gym I go to and the boys and I plan to go there a few times a week.
