Warning!!!! This post will sound like sour grapes.
Today Jim, Kellie, Alise and I spent watching Talon at the semi-final for 5A state volleyball. He played great, but it is very frustrating to have him on a team where he doesn't get set. He is an outside hitter and can consistently put the ball away, but for some reason the setters go to smaller, less consistent players...probably because they all go to school together. Talon goes to Mountain Range and bc they don't have a vollyball team for boys, state rules dictate he needs to play on the next closest team, which is Holy Family. There are great kids on the team, 2 from Mountain range and one from Broomfield. Talon is such a good player and he has been frustrated this year, as have we, with coaching. On the flip side, at least he got to play volleyball this year.
He is so excited to go to BYU Hawaii. He has a surfer type personality and is pretty laid back, so he seems like a perfect fit for this school. I am going to miss him. BUT I am NOT going to think about that right now.
Seminary is over and we had a really fun scripture chase with the Bishops and Stake President to finish the year. I am so proud of my class and how hard they worked to learn the scripture mastery and the growth they've shown both spiritually and intellectually. Funniest comment from one student was, " I really liked learning abut the Book of Mormon not at church." As we meet in the church, I got a chuckle out of that. I'm thinking it is bc i run my class more like a classroom at school, instead of a sunday school class. All my students hated that I give tests. I surprised them by having 3 short, easy essay questions, and fixing them all breakfast on final day. As the review sheet had been 2 pages and we had spent a day on it, they were not happy coming into Seminary, but were much happier when they left. Yeah!!!!
I love the kids I've taught this year. It was so easy to be happy and feel the spirit. I will miss them.
